Preparing Your Work for Publication
Completing a first draft is often only the beginning of a journey to publication. What follows it is the crucial – and often troublesome – process of rewriting, redrafting and crafting your manuscript for submission to publishers.
This day-long workshop is designed to explain the importance of rewriting, and will teach efficient techniques and approaches to redrafting your work-in-progress to make it shine.
Through a series of dynamic writing exercises, personal feedback and key insights into the creative practice, this workshop will review the components that make up a manuscript (including character, plot, dialogue, place and structure), and help you develop strategies to effectively improve and expand on these elements of your story.
Please bring your laptop or a writing pad, and – if you wish – your special work-in-progress. This will be a day of intensive writing, reflection and discussion, led by two experienced writers and industry professionals.
This is a day-long workshop. Morning and afternoon tea will be provided, and there is a 45-minute break for lunch. Kathleen Syme Library is close to public transport, and there is parking nearby. All participants also receive a goodie bag of resource material to keep you motivated long after the workshop has concluded. For further information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
